Individuals have always been defined using their cultural backgrounds, and this measure has accorded various identities within the societal setting. The ambitions and participation of individuals is shaped based on the intuition derived from the practices established in their cultural background. The global setting has been constructed based on variable cultural affiliations that have determined the diversity within the continents. Each of the continents holds variable cultures all including a similar trend of behavioral traits. However, each ethnic community had been shaped based on their cultural practices and beliefs with the variation included in the nature of their duty completion. Belief and traditions have also determined the individuals’ measure of relation within the environment created to accord the survival measure. I am from the Korean culture and have been taught to relate to other cultures in a positive nature because humanity is progressed from positive relation. My family has always encouraged me to excel in my education to attain better position within the society. With the encouragement needed from my family, I have manage to relate positively within the environment and appreciate my Korean origin. Mu culture holds varied behavioral traits and adaptation that distinguish the beliefs from other backgrounds. I have been able to recognize my position and ambition in society through the appreciation of my culture and the effort presented in the environment. Korean culture holds several similarity with other cultural affiliations, especially in Asia but hold variations in the majority of the sectors. With the advanced explanation of the tradition, practices and beliefs of the Korean culture, I will be able to discuss my cultural autobiography in detail.
There is the need to articulate the history of Korea to determine the culture of Koreans. The country had been revealed to humanity during the Cold War age where the conflict had lasted for four years pitting rivalry between capitalism and Communism. The period had highlighted the nation to the world to generate negative resolution of the image of Koreans. However, I choose to present the cultural values of my people to explain the vital role that the community had played in international integration. This is because through understanding the cultural activities and practices of the Koreans, the provision issued discusses their contribution to the global formation. The Koreans had been formulated based on the aspect of unity, and each family observed similar values towards the environment.
Koreans had been anglers who later engaged in farming with rice being the leading economic crop. Agriculture had been adopted as a leading activity after integration of the people into villages that formed the law of the societal setting. The values within the societal setting offered strict punishment to the offenders of the balance found within the community. The values of the family are also formed from the law that is integrated with religious aspects. These values have been passed through families and generations to initiate positive conduct within the family setting. A singe language also unites the Koreans. My parents who explain the need to offer measures that are regarded as morally outright and associate positively with the elders have always taught me the moral values. Majority of people confuse the Korean culture with Japanese and Chinese beliefs, but these include differences that distinguish the cultures. The spoken language also holds significance in the global scene with increased adoption from Koreans distributed around the world. More than 65 million individuals who hail in peninsula and the lands outlying the region have been explained, to speak the language with over 5 million others established globally. Koreans in the universal setting have been regarded to speak and adopt a similar language that strongly identifies the culture. Despite the changes in the international structure due to the globalization aspect, there have been similarities that predict the resemblance and unity in the Korean people.
My family has always seen the need to contribute in the decision making process with my father the center of basing judgment. This provision has been passed through the family, and I remember my grandfather applying the same to the family when we have a collective meeting. The family is the paramount entity in each Korean family with differentiated roles from each of the members. The roles are assigned to promote discipline, order and respect that increase the participation of the members. The Confucian law offers the father to be the leading figure in the family setting an accorded the duty of providing the necessities to the family. The father’s role includes offering food, clothing and overseeing the progressive completion of interactive measures in the family. There is also the identity of the position in the eldest son who is assigned the obligation to defend the family in the absence of the father. The eldest son also offers the role in ensuring sustenance to his family and wife serving as the sole provider. The provision of the family offered that the embers had to be concerned with the welfare of the entire setting and refrain from consideration of individual progress. This ensured that unity and integrated completion of the assigned roles had been satisfactorily completed. This lesson from the Korean culture has taught me to appreciate the needs of my colleagues and strive towards offering the needed help to the less fortunate individuals. However, the constraints that have challenged the development of the, effective moral, societal values have been in the globalization advances. The modern society has deprived the developing mind of the needed virtues to uphold human dignity and tolerance of immoral behavior. I have strived to maintain my cultural values with the Korean stable ethnic diversity and system. The head of the family offers the needed basis of judgment and problem solving advice. The provision has offered a stable reliance on the values of the eldest member of the family who offers the inspiration needed to solve crises. The Korean practices and judgment have been the measures that distinguish the people from the other tribes offered in society. These aspects have been based on the concept of Confucianism that accords individuals a position within the societal setting. The Confucianism has been described as the motive that determines the behavior of the individuals in the society with the relation accorded to the completion of assigned tasks.
Korean culture expects members to be morally outright and consider their influence on their interaction with people. This measure has enabled my understanding to advance and accord better judgment with positive engagement with my friends. On leading occasions and holidays, I spend time with my family to gain more advice and direction on the positive measures to interact with my colleagues in school. Confucianism has been the basis of moral creation and guidance to the relationship of individuals in the societal setting. The theory governing the trend establishes five differentiated relationships within the Korean culture. The ruler and their subordinates, the wife and her husband, relationship between siblings, between friends and that based on parents-children engagement. The Confucianism concept that has governed the individuals in the Korean culture dictates loyalty, duty completion and respect towards the counterparts. Furthermore, the culture offers the recognition of the ancestors who had been the creators of the morals in society, and imitation of their roles would develop efficiency in an individual.
The Korean culture has inspired individuals from my family to lead a better life based on better judgment and respect. This ensures reduced tension and conflict among members to generate harmony and better judgment. The distinct characteristic in the Korean culture is held in the practices regarding contribution to the society. With discipline and better judgment being the leading factors that determine the strength of individual’s beliefs, I have managed to create measures to maintain a principled lifestyle. The Koreans observe respect and acknowledgment of the ancestors in the traditional ceremony called Chusok. On this day, the Korean members cook food in honor of the famous men and celebrate their contribution.
The culture also presented distinct clothing style that maintained individual dignity, unlike the modern clothing style. The traditional Korean lifestyle offered measures to observe a given clothing trend. Hemp and arrowroot offered raw materials for the clothing with silkworm farming producing quality silk for other material products. In the ancient Korean societal setting, men had jeogori, baji and the durumagi as their clothing. Furthermore, the hats presented a complement to the attire and accorded distinct traditional attire for the men. Consequently, the women had jeogori complemented with a set of ribbons forming the knot otgoreum and chima, which had been an elongated dress form. The clothing style had been adopted among the Korean civilians for an elongated time to accord the traditional values in the appearance of the societal members. However, with the modern provision to uphold a similar clothing trend, I have tried to emulate a decent dressing style to honor the Korean culture provision and shape the behavioral style initiated.
The western food has dominated the restaurants in the modern century with fast food joints occupying the trend in the younger generation consumption. Although some of the traditional Korean food is not readily available, have learnt to cook some of the delicacies that had been advanced to favor the culture. Rice has been the staple food within the Korean culture with various foods accompanying the main dish. The other food that had been used to accompany the meal was in seasoned vegetable, stew and meat. The combination had been directed towards maintaining positive health within the family members and encourages positive relationships, especially in marriage. Furthermore, kimchi had been used as a necessity in the meal composed of Chinese cabbage, green onion, cucumber and a significant amount of radish. Some kimshi had been made spicy with the addition of red pepper and these offered the necessary strategy to advance the relationships in the family. The first time that I had tasted the combination of rice and kimchi, I managed to appreciate the effort presented by the cook and the advancement of the Korean culture. However, the cultural background is not defined in the modernized trends of duty completion, but the values that had been realized in the traditional development in the cultural society. The Korean culture pays distinct consideration to all the values in the society that determine the identity of the members of the society.
The Korean culture is composed of a different approach in religion as compared to other cultures dominated by a single outstanding religious affiliation. The Korean cultural religion is shaped from varied religious aspects that determine the moral behavior of the people in the society. The ancient religious practices had been combined with political setting to offer the needed judgment of the individuals in the society. The combination of the two aspects offered the needed guides to offer a solution and advice towards intricate matters affecting the members of the society. However, these two aspects had been separated to become separate entities to deliver moral guidance within the society. Koreans had been governed in the moral laws following the ideology of Shamanism, Taoism, Confucianism or Buddhism. However, Christianity has been developed in the modern societal setting to include the guidelines needed to determine individual behavior. Buddhism had been based on the concept of reincarnation that had been based on the rebirth of individuals as they fulfilled a given stage in their life. Individuals advanced from a stage to the other depending on the nature of relation within the members of the society. Confucianism, on the other hand, accorded members a moral obligation rather than the religious aspirations. The theory advanced righteousness and wisdom to the followers with family aspects within the society. I have admired the teaching of Confucianism, which has presented righteous relations within the members of the society and offer peaceful resolution to the conflict. A stable society is based on the need to offer members the opportunity to participate equally in retrieving survival mechanism. In my family, members have always observed respect and undertaken their role in offering the needed support to the other family members that need help. In my initial years, in the school, I had difficulty learning a different language and could not ask my friends to help solve the difficulty within the institution. I turned to my family, and my father explained the need for determination and guidance to complete the given challenges. Korean culture offers the inspiration needed to provide unity and corporation within the family. The value dictated had been that the family unit composed a stable society.
The Korean culture tolerates discipline and etiquette, with the greetings placed to follow protocols depicting respect to the highly placed individuals. Apart from the bow during greeting, gifts and goodwill had been issued to the members to show just faith. I believe that, through the Korean culture, the society would be advanced into a stable and reliable source of better judgment. Strict laws created by the elders determined the relationship of members within the society. I have learnt to appreciate the ancient Korean culture’s contribution to modern food, clothing and etiquette in the modern century.
